January 14, 2004 Chicago

We're back from the Galapagos. We enjoyed our time sailing the now summer seas off Ecuador on a little catamaran called Nemo.
(http://www.galapagosinformation.com ) and
(pagosonline.com/Cruises/Luxury/Nemo.htm )
Andrew became certified in scuba(our guide Fabrizeo was one of the first masters in ecology from the University in Equador and besides being an expert on sharks, he was a PADI instructor and had certified over 8,000 divers. as we traveled around the islands. Andrew's most memorable dive for me, was hearing (not from him of course )about how he was surrounded by a school of hammerhead sharks at seventy feet. We traveled with friends and their families -after sailing we ended up at a beautiful spa, called LaMirage, two hours out of Quito (we drove over the equator twice)on the Pan American highway where we took a couple of days to relax again on dry land, although some of the group went horsebackriding. The day we returned we Took a quick trip to St. Louis to visit Catherine and Andy to see their new home for the first time (they moved in July) and celebrate New Year's Eve. We took a great walk through the park near their home to a French Bistro, it seemed everyone in St. Louis was out, celebrating the anniversary of the world's fair, the New Year's as well as the 200th anniversary of the city.

We've been out the last two weekends in the Dunes and we'll be out there this week as well. The following weekend, the Chinese New Year weekend, we'll be traveling
out to LA to visit Tim and Alicia and Aidan and India. Hopefully our New Year's card
will start to be mailed on our return. We'll be seeing the newest property that Tim
and Alicia will be selling in January on Farmingdale=tp check out photos on the LA Griffins
